Material
Core-Fix HT helical ties are manufactured from AISI Type 304 Stainless Steel with an ultimate tensile yield strength of 100,000 psi.
Sizes
Core-Fix HT helical ties are available in 8mm and 10mm diameters, and in various lengths according to the project requirements. Dual diameter ties are available for situations where the ties are to be installed through a soft material, such as a mortar joint, into a hard material such as concrete.
Technical Support
Core-Fix HT helical ties typically generate adequate pull-out load capacities in most building materials. On-site testing is available to determine the optimal installation procedure to maximize the tie performance.
Installation Procedure
1. Drill the correct size diameter pilot hole through the outer wythe and into the substructure to the specified depth at each location. It is recommended that this operation be done using a rotary percussion hammer drill (3-jaw chuck type) to minimize over-sizing the hole.
2. Mount the HT Installation Tool on an SDS Hammer Drill. Insert one end of the tie into the tool and the point on the other end into the pilot hole.
3. Install the tie into the pilot hole using the hammer action of the SDS drill while maintaining a straight axis of the pilot hole, tie, and installation tool.
4. The tie is set when the drive pin of the installation tool is fully extended and can no longer drive the tie, which is then effectively recessed behind the façade.
5. Patch the entry point with a compatible material to complete the installation.
